These mills are handmade using the same methods used for the past 200 years where they first saw service as coffee mills for the Greek army.  This mill is responsible for the origin of the phrase "pepper grinder", since the mill actually grinds the pepper releasing maximum flavor, commonly available pepper mill only smash the peppercorns. 

The traditional style mill has a removable base cup that can be used to pre-grind or to eliminate residual pepper dust.

Will naturally patina over time.
